简 介
休（罗迪·麦克道尔 Roddy McDowall 饰）出生在一个矿工之家，他的父亲老摩根（唐纳德·克里斯普 Donald Crisp 饰）和哥哥们日日在黑暗炽热的地下做着最辛苦和危险的工作。虽然如此，休的童年生活还是充满了快乐的记忆，父亲乐观向上的态度感染了一大家子人，每一个人都十分珍惜和家人相处的美好时光。
钢铁厂的倒闭让摩根一家人陷入了危机之中，大批的钢铁厂工人涌入了煤矿行业，导致煤矿工人的工资大幅下降。心生不满的矿工决定罢工，其中包括老摩根的儿子们。对于这一激进的举动，老摩根持着反对的态度，他和儿子们发生了激烈的冲突，儿子们选择了离家出走。幸运的是，罢工产生了正面的效果，摩根一家人重新回到了正常的生活轨道之上。
